Earlier this year we were honoured to make aprons for one of the greatest rock bands of all time: Metallica.
The aprons were made to celebrate Metallica’s new endeavour Blackened, a straight American whiskey. It was the culmination of a years-long project with Master Distiller Dave Pickerell.
Blackened was “born in cask, forged by sound,” which seems crazy but it’s true: the blend of bourbons, ryes, and whiskeys is housed in black brandy barrels, then inundated with low hertz sound waves. These sound waves are so intense that they enhance the molecular interaction and the finish of the whiskey. This sonic enhancement, or “black noise” makes for a one-of-a-kind bottle of whiskey. Each batch is made with a unique playlist, which is then available on Spotify and Apple Music. And of course, the sound wave on the front of the bottle comes from the song, “Blackened.”
The aprons had to be as awesome as the product. They were totally on theme: black on black on black. They featured both the Metallica and Blackened logos, and custom-embossed strap sliders and apron bodies. We think they turned out pretty rad!
Blackened is available in the US. For more, visit blackenedwhiskey.com.
