Is this mask comparable to an N95?
In short, no. N95 masks are a respiratory protective device designed to achieve a very close facial fit and very efficient filtration of airborne particles. However, well made cotton masks and especially those used with a filter insert have shown to provide greater protection from viral droplets. Given that many of use could also be asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19, it is a responsible choice to, in the words of Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, Theresa Tam, “cover our cough.”
Our mask is designed with the intention of providing a viable alternative for those wanting extra protection from COVID-19 while not taking from the limited supply of Personal Protective Equipment needed by those on the front lines. These masks are not
CSA or FDA approved and are intended for personal use only. Please remember that no mask can replace frequent handwashing and social distancing. For personal safety reasons, we are unable to accept any returns or exchanges on masks.
One For One
For every mask you purchase, we will donate one mask to frontline and essential worker groups.
What sizes are available?
Effective May 15, we have resized our masks to reflect adult sizing from Small to XL. Our previous sizes will have all bumped down one size (ex. former Medium is now the Small etc). The children’s mask is no longer the Small and is now just “Kids Mask”.
Please measure your face for mask size. We recommend using a seamstress (flexible) measuring tape or, if you don't have one, a string that you can measure with a regular measuring tape after. It is important to measure to accommodate the contour of the nose and cheeks.
Masks have elasticized straps that go around the head. If the straps are too long for you, you can knot them for a tighter fit.
Current Size Chart (effective May 15):
XLarge - 11.5" (ear to ear) x 8.5" (nose to chin)/ 29.2cm (ear to ear) x 21.6cm (nose to chin)

What colours are available?

- 100% cotton non-stretch 7oz Black Twill
- 100% cotton non-stretch 7oz Blue-Grey Chambray
- one fabric offered at a time, please see current fabric on Kids Mask

How do I wear my mask?
1. Wash your hands.
2. Insert filter through pocket. The is best done by rolling the filter, inserting it into the pocket of the mask and then unravelling it inside the pocket).
3. Place double sided tape on the inside of the mask near the bridge of the nose (where the gap forms between the nose and cheeks) and press onto face for a secure fit without gaping.
4. Pull straps over the head with lower one at the base of the skull and the higher one towards the crown (hair can be lifted over to hid the straps as long as the mask remains securely in place).
5. When removing, be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth and wash hands immediately after removing.
What can I use as a filter?
At this time, we have found that the recommendations from the CDC and other government agencies for filters are changing daily, so we suggest that you research and consider the most up-to-date options. For this reason, we have opted not to supply a filter
. There are a variety of options out there for filters and inserts, but something as simple as a coffee filter or blue shop towels can be used to provide some level of protection. If opting for a heavier 3M style filter or vacuum bag, please ensure that is not fibreglass based and is breathable. Any filter is single use only and should be carefully disposed of after use.
What sort of tape should I use?
Ideally a medical tape or even a fashion tape can be used as long as it is double sided and can securely hold the mask in place on your face. Please note that some double sided tapes may irritate the skin and it is best to do a small test area on your skin.
How do I wash my mask?
Masks should be washed with regular laundry detergent in hot water after each use. Avoid use of bleach or other harsh chemical washes that could damage the integrity of the fabric. Dry mask in dryer on high heat and ensure mask is fully dry before wearing.
Face masks should be changed if saturated from condensation build-up or any other dampening event.

We are now offering logo or name embroidery. We have added a cotton layer behind the embroidery so as not to affect the integrity of the mask fabric.
