We have a diverse customer base of barbers, hairstylists, bartenders, tattoo artists, woodworkers and all kinds of artists, but Granville Island also draws a large number of tourists into our shop.

The Company: We operated as an online store for 4 years before opening our retail location on Granville Island in September 2016. Search + Rescue Denim Co. specialises in premium made-to-order aprons that are able to be completely customised. It is a fun and collaborative workspace and is known for the great care we take with clients and employees alike.

  • Our bright and newly renovated flagship store on Granville Island is looking for a fresh pair of eyes to improve in-store merchandising, help organise and staff shop events and help drive new customers to the store.
  • We believe in specialising in a premium product to provide our customers with the best apron they’ll ever own.

The Position: We are looking for friendly and engaging retail staff, particularly with an interest in marketing and events. The position calls for someone with outstanding retail, sales and customer service experience to elevate the retail experience for our customers to further grow and develop with our small but growing business.

We are open 7 days a week, usually from 10-6 however during the Summer we are looking to expand our opening hours so can offer anything from 4 hours a week to 40 and these can be built around other jobs or responsibilities.

Why work with us?

  • We are a growing business with serious opportunities for personal development and expanding roles and responsibilities. We are offering the unique opportunity to take our retail store to the next level and work closely with customers, clients and the production team to outfit some of the best tattoo artists, bartenders, stylists and artists in the business.
  • We are a close-knit and hard-working small team who enjoy celebrating even the smallest successes and encouraging one another daily. Karaoke nights, staff BBQs, pot luck lunches and craft nights occur frequently and our monthly ‘slush fund’ treats us to occasional ‘shop beers’, fresh fruit and veg for staff snacking, great coffee and of course a steady stream of Lee’s famous donuts. When we started S+R we wanted to create a place that we would actually want to come to work!
  • We don’t make you work Christmas, Boxing Day or New Years Day and we are flexible with time off and personal schedules. The work environment is casual while still being committed to the efficiency and success of the business.
  • Due to a recent restructuring of the company this is an exciting opportunity to develop new store processes, marketing plans and much more.

  • It is absolutely essential that you are a motivated and dynamic individual who is happy to self-direct as confidently as follow instructions and work with others.
  • We’re looking for someone friendly, outgoing and able to engage with a diverse customer base.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Impeccable organisational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Must have confident communication, language and writing skills.
  • An interest and/or experience in events, merchandising, social media marketing and sales would be a bonus.
